NYSE Technologies and The Community Cloud

Almost two years ago, I wrote about how NYSE Technologies was launching a "community cloud" targeted at the financial trading community.  At the time, it was a brave experiment, with powerful ideas behind the offering. 

I was duly fascinated.

Now, two years later, they're now reaping the benefits of being the first mover in their industry: many customers, expanded services, increased investment -- success is clearly at hand. 

Could the dynamics behind their success lead to similar community clouds for other industry sectors?

I think so ...

Cisco and EMC: The Back Story

My youngest teenage daughter is starting to enjoy reading those celebrity tabloids: who's together now, who's breaking up, etc. 

Not exactly my thing, but - hey - it works for her.
 
Our tech industry is not immune from the same kind of speculation.  With both Cisco and EMC both playing prominent roles in the broader transformation of the IT industry, it seems that we're both in the rotation once again.
 
As part of my customer meetings, I'm now occasionally pinged by people who are curious as to my personal take on all of this.  Like anyone, I can speculate on the future, but the past is largely a matter of fact.
 
People tend to forget all the great stuff the two companies have done together in the past -- for our mutual customers. 

So I remind them.
 
And while no one can predict what the future might bring, the past is always worth considering ...

A Partner Ahead: GreenPages Leans Forward Into The Future

I find myself spending more of my time with EMC's partners these days.  I can't help but study their businesses, their culture and their strategies.

Different partners have different approaches.  But I really get excited when I meet an EMC partner who is betting so heavily (and successfully!) on key transitions in the IT industry.
 
I think their story makes an excellent case study in how focused IT partners can move from reseller to integrator to trusted consultant.
 
Besides sharing their story with you, I personally wanted to know what areas their team was focusing on going forwards.
 
Why?  Because their past decisions have turned out pretty well :)
