A Reflection -- And Appreciation

I glanced at the calendar, and realized that it now had been six years (!) since I first was foolish enough to think I should be blogging. 

What was once a strange and uncomfortable adventure is now fully integrated to everything I do.

And -- if you're interested -- I thought I'd take a moment to share not only a few reflections about the experience, but my appreciation for each and every one of you who has helped me along the way.

One Thousand Blog Posts Later ...

I've hit an interesting personal milestone with this whole blogging thing.

This is my 1,000th external blog post.  Yes, really.

And I thought I'd indulge myself with not only a few reflections on the experience, but hopefully inspire a few more people to take the plunge and invest in themselves much as I did.

An Invitation: Who Are You?

Today is Social Media Day (#smday).  The occasion has inspired me to try something a bit different.

Why don't you share something about yourself -- right here on this blog?

Here's the motivation:

Even if you're only an occasional reader of this blog, you know something about me: who I am, what I do, how I look at the world.

I know almost nothing about you.  That bothers me.

Not only that, I think you'd like to get to know each other. 

When I occasionally meet people who say they read my blog, they're characteristically bright, passionate and insightful.  I think you'd really enjoy each other's company.

Best as I can guess, there's about 10K-30K of you out there.  Maybe many more -- the internet is a strange place.

Why not go to the comments below, and share anything you're comfortable sharing: name, occupation, hobbies, twitter handle, links to you web page or blog -- it doesn't really matter how much or how little. 

Just take a moment to share something -- even a kind thought.

Even if you're a competitor and detest me (and I know many of you are), go anonymous if you'd like.  It's OK, this one time.

I'd certainly like to know more about you. 

And I think everyone else would as well.

The Big Themes Of 2010

As we all wrap up the year, I thought it'd be fun to go back to all the posts I wrote, and surface a few of the bigger themes and ideas that I ended up continually writing about during 2010.

If you're a regular reader, you know I write a lot.  Perhaps too much, in the eyes of some.

Regardless, it was fun to go back over 2010, and pick out the big, resonant themes that I think will carry forward into 2010 and beyond.

A Minor Milestone

I'm on vacation this week -- no blogging, no twitter, etc. -- but I did manage to get around to checking my blog for any interesting comments.

And I happened to notice this.
